(EL CAJON, Calif.) Westmont men's and women's golf got a bit more than they bargained for at the San Diego Christian Invitational held at Singing Hills Golf Result on Monday and Tuesday.

"We played in some of the worst weather imaginable," said Westmont head coach Tom Knecht. "With the wind and the rain, it was tough conditions."

Both the men's and women's squads played 36 holes on Monday, then returned on Tuesday to play a round of 18 in better weather.

"Given how long it was out there – 10 hours golfing in the rain and the wind – I am proud of them just for finishing," stressed Knecht after the first day of play. "Overall, it wasn't one of our finer tournaments, but we persevered and played through some challenging situations. I am proud of the squad."

Kat Bevill finished the tournament in seventh place, with a final round of 76, moving up two spots from the day before. Mia Thompson shot a consistent 94-92-93 to finish tied for 23rd.

Mason Mancasola was the top finisher for the Warrior men. He shot rounds of 80 and 81 on the first day and then came back on the second with a round of 74 to tie for 23rd place. Tom Ridd recorded rounds of 82, 86 and 85 to finish 39th.

"None of the men or women played up to their potential, but they battled," acknowledged Knecht.

The Warriors will next compete on March 29 and 30 at the TMU Spring Invitational, which will be held at the Crystalaire Country Club in Llano.
