Golf Opens Spring Tournament Play

(CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif.) Westmont men's and women's golf resumed their 2023-24 season by returning to Quail Lodge Golf Club to take part in the PCH Spring Invitational hosted by Menlo. Neither team had played since the end of October when they were on the same course for the PCH Spring Invitational.
 
The women finished in second place out of five teams, posting a team score of 634 over two rounds. The Warriors were eight strokes back of the host Menlo Oaks. Westmont finished 25 strokes ahead of third-place The Master's, who posted a 659.
 
The Warriors recorded a 322 in Monday's first round, then cut their score by 10 strokes on Tuesday.
 
Westmont's Noelle Thompson and Sydnee Magpoc finished fifth and sixth respectively on the individual player leaderboard. Thompson had a two-round total of 155 after posting a 76 (+5) on Tuesday. Magpoc was two strokes back of her teammate at 157 with a second day score of 77 (+6).
 
Mallory Hopper tied for seventh place with a two-round score of 160. Charlie Bloom tied for 12th with a score of 164 and Hannah Camara was fifth with a total of 167 strokes.
 
The Westmont men finished eighth out of 10 teams, recording a two-round score of 615. Occidental won the team title with a score of 578.
 
Westmont dropped nine points from their 312 score on Monday to tally 303 on Tuesday.
 
Payton Hendricks and Trevor Moquin claimed the Warriors' best individual finishes. Hendricks posted a two day total of 150 to tie for 15th. Moquin tied for 18th with a score of 151.
 
Danny Manginelli shot a 157 to tie for 24th while Cooper Allen recorded a 159. Brock Yurkovich posted a two-round total of 161.
 
Both the men's and women's teams will be in action on February 26 and 27 when they compete in the Sea Beggars Invitational at Olivas Links Golf Course.
