(PUEBLO, Colo.) Westmont Women's Golf competed under difficult conditions on Monday at Pueblo Country Club, ending the day in 13th place of 18 teams at the West Regional.

The Regional was originally planned to be Monday through Wednesday playing one round per day, but inclement weather axed Wednesday from the schedule altogether. So, the schedule was frontloaded to try get through two rounds on Monday and the third, final round on Tuesday. The majority of golfers played through at least 16 holes of round two by the end of the day.

But Monday's weather—particularly, strong gusts of wind—still had a very noticeable effect on the scores. For context, first-place Dallas Baptist sits at 34-over; middle-of-the-pack Midwestern State is in ninth at 63-over. The Warriors currently sit at 75-over.

With all that under consideration, Karis Haltom had one of the best rounds of any golfer on the day. She shot a one-over 68 in her second round with three birdies and one hole remaining. The junior currently tops Westmont's leaderboard with a 12-over total, tied for 14th overall.

Hannah Camara is close behind. The PacWest individual champion shot a 79 (+8) in the first round and sits at 73 (+7) with one par-five left to complete round two. At 15-over, she is tied for 35th of all golfers.

Rounding out the Warriors' current scoring is Noelle Thompson (+21) and Sydnee Magpoc (+27). Magpoc completed her second round with an 11-over 82; Thompson also is 11-over through 16 holes of round two after finishing round one 10-over—second best on the team.

As a team, Westmont improved considerably as the day went on. After shooting 45-over in round one, they are currently shooting 30-over in round two. Only CSU Monterey Bay and Point Loma had better improvements, both going from 40-over to 17-over.

While the top-five team finish to qualify for the National Championship looks out of reach, the top two individuals not on a top-five team will advance. As things currently stand, Haltom is fifth among that group. Camara is also in the mix, three strokes behind her teammate.

Considering this is the Warriors' first time ever participating in national championship play, 13th is a positive spot to be in. Furthermore, as the last team to make the Regional via an at-large berth, Westmont is punching above their weight, ending the day as the highest non-ranked team on the leaderboard.

The Warriors will complete the Regional with their third round tomorrow—Tuesday—after wrapping up the final holes of round two at 8 a.m. local time.
