Wyatt Meyring joins the Westmont Cross Country and Track & Field coaching staff with extensive experience as an athlete and coach, a passion for team culture, and a strong record of program development.
He began his collegiate career at Clackamas Community College, earning two NWAC All-American honors in the hammer throw before transferring to Washington State University, where he competed as a scholarship athlete and earned awards for leadership and commitment. He graduated in 2018 with a degree in Sociology.
As a collegiate athlete, Meyring threw a personal best of 61.68m in the hammer and placed 4th at the 2017 PAC-12 Championships.
He started his coaching career at Central Washington University (2018–2022), where his athletes won eight GNAC titles and earned multiple All-Region and NCAA qualifying marks as well as a national qualifier in the Women's Indoor Shot Put in 2020. From 2022 to 2025, he served as an assistant coach at Caltech in Pasadena, California.
Coaching at one of the nations top 10 academic institutions, he led a major turnaround in the throws program. At the 2025 SCIAC Championships, the men’s throws group scored 32 of the team’s 51 points, the highest total by Caltech throwers at a conference meet since 1945, while the women’s group added 22 of the program’s record-setting 44 points. In total, Caltech throwers broke eight school records during his tenure, earning him back-to-back USTFCCCA West Region Assistant Coach of the Year finalist honors.
Meyring is certified in both throws and strength & conditioning by the USTFCCCA. He brings energy, expertise, and a team-first mindset to Westmont, where he is joined by his wife, Emmy, an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program. The two have been joyfully married since July 2022 and are thrilled to be part of the Westmont community together.
