Westmont Baseball scored in each of the first seven innings and took an 11-10 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Warriors gave up a single run to the host Gators of San Francisco State to send the game into extra innings. After a scoreless tenth inning, the game was suspended due to darkness. The contest will resume at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, prior to a doubleheader which was moved from today to tomorrow due to rain in the Bay Area.

The Warriors opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning on a two-RBI single by designated hitter Tim Leary. But the Gators answered back with a two-RBI double by Greg Kline in the bottom half of the inning. In the top of the second, Westmont center fielder Terrell Wong sent a two-run homerun over the left field wall to give Westmont a 4-0 lead.

The Warriors added another run in the top of the third. Bottenfield led off the inning with a double and scored on a grounder by first baseman Colton Christianson. In the forth inning, Westmont made it 6-2 as Wong picked up another RBI on a single down the left field line.

The Gators scored three in the bottom half of the fourth on a solo homerun by third baseman Nick Nyman and an RBI single by catcher Kevin Dultz. Dultz later scored on a passed ball. Westmont made it a 7-5 game in the top of the fifth when Leary led off with a single and later scored on a ground ball by catcher Mark Magdaleno. In the bottom of the fifth, the Gators picked up a run when Sean Proni scored on a wild pitch.

In the top of the sixth, Westmont scored three times to produce a 10-6 lead. Left fielder Coby Cress hit a one-out double to right center and Bottenfield followed with an RBI-double to center. Leary then stepped to the plate and set the ball over the left-field fence for a two-run homerun.

But the Gators tied the score with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Two runs came on a single to left center by Nyman. The third run was the result of a wild pitch and the fourth came on an RBI-single by Proni.

Wang made it an 11-10 lead in the top of the seventh inning with an RBI-double to center and the Warriors clung to that lead until the bottom of the ninth. San Francisco State's tying run came as the result of an error. The Warriors committed six errors in the contest and surrendered 10 walks. They also committed seven wild pitches.

We didn't manage the game well defensively from a fielding or pitching stand point," said Westmont Head Coach Robert Ruiz. "The field was a swamp, but both teams had to play on it. The top of the lineup swung the bat very well, especially Tim (Leary), Jordan (Bottenfield) and Terrell (Wong).
