Box Score Junior guard Preston Branson tallied 20 points and pulled down five rebounds, as Westmont Men's Basketball (5-1) defeated the Keelhaulers of CSU Maritime (5-4) by a score of 69-55 at the Lamont Ramsey Classic at Menlo College. Jordan Sachs tallied 12 points, a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Niko Brooks added another 10 points to the Warrior totals. Tied with the Keelhaulers at 14-all in the first half, the Warriors closed out the first frame with a 20-2 run to produce a halftime score of 34-16.


CSU Maritime closed to within seven in the second half, before the Warriors pulled away again. Westmont shot 66.7% from the field in the first half (12 of 18) and 54.1% for the game (20 of 37). The Warriors held the Keelhaulers to just 24.0% (6 of 25) in the first half and 32.7 over all (17 of 52). Westmont also prevailed in the battle of the boards 36-28. Westmont will be back in action at the Lamont Ramsey Tournament tomorrow when they will play the host, Menlo. Tip-off is scheduled for four o'clock.
