Men's Basketball Wins Fourth in a Row

Box Score Westmont Men's Basketball (6-1) completed a two-game sweep at the Lamont Ramsey Tournament on Saturday, defeating the host Menlo by a score of 71-67. Preston Branson tallied 18 points to lead the Warriors in scoring while Jordan Sachs added another 15. "We did a nice job of stretching the lead out to 15 with four minutes left," said Westmont head coach John Moore. "They hit some wild, crazy attempted threes at that point to put them back in the game. We missed a couple of free throws and all of a sudden it was done to a six. Their last three was a panic three to cut it to three with about four seconds left. T.J. Lipold hit a free throw to finish it off."

The Warriors out-rebound the Warriors 36-31 with Jordan and T.J. Lipold leading the effort on the boards with seven points each. "We played hard," said Moore. "I thought we got a really good game out of Landon Boucher. I thought Landon played one of his best games thus far and Niko had a very nice game."

Cooper Damron and Niko Brooks each had nine points with Brooks adding six assists. As a team, the Warriors shot 45.1% from the field and 38.1% from beyond the arc. The Warriors have won four in a row and will now turn to the start of the GSAC season with a 6-1 record. Tuesday, the Warriors will host #9 Azusa Pacific (5-1) at 7:30 p.m. in Murchison Gymnasium. "GSAC here we come," quipped the coach. "We are pleased to be coming into it 6-1. We wanted to go 3-0 this week and we were able to do that. We are looking forward to some very tough GSAC games and we are going to start with the first one against APU."
