Game Recap: Baseball |

Turbin Goes Six for Six in Win

Center fielder J.J. Turbin went six for six at the plate, including a three-run home run in the eighth inning, as Westmont Baseball (3-1) posted a 14-1 victory over La Sierra (0-3) on Thursday afternoon at Russ Carr Field. His six hits tied the Warrior record for most hits in a single game.

Turbin, a red-shirt freshman, delivered five singles in a row before clearing the fence to produce three RBIs. He also scored four times and notched two stolen bases.

The Warriors used the non-conference game as an opportunity to give six different pitches some work on the mound in a game time situation. Michael Kwan started and gave up one run on two hits.

Jonathan Breneman came on in relief to pitch the fourth and fifth inning. He did not allow a run and surrendered just two hits.

The next four pitchers – Ryan Sullivan, Eric Bateman, Chris Plance and Mitch Crocker – each worked one inning and collectively they allowed neither a run nor a hit.

The Warriors return to Russ Carr Field for a three-game series with Oregon Tech on Friday and Saturday, February 11-12.
