(POMONA, Calif.) The Westmont men's basketball team had an all-around impressive performance as they took the court this evening against Cal State San Bernardino. Despite the eventual 77-81 loss, the Warriors battled it out against a top Division II school.

"Tonight we played the CCAA Champions from last year– one of the top Division II programs here in California. They have won the CCAA Championship nine of the last thirteen years. So, next to Cal Poly Pomona, they will be one of the top teams in CCAA this year," opened head coach John Moore.

It was a battle from the moment that the whistle blew and the clock started winding down. The Warriors were running their offense well, while moving the ball quickly and efficiently. In the first half alone, Westmont sank an impressive 50 percent from the field. They played the Coyotes point for point; so much so that the score was tied 39-39 going into halftime.

"We played two really tough opponents the last two games and I really liked the way that we responded tonight against a talented San Bernardino team," explained Moore.  "We ran a good offense. We hit 54 percent from the field. We had 24 assists and 12 turnovers, so a 2:1 ratio is a good indicator of the high level offensive play that we had. We got good play out of Cory Blau tonight. Britton Williams was 6-1 assist to turnovers, which is great. We also got good play out of Sean McDonnell, Sean Harman and Daniel Carlin."

Offensively, the Warriors had five players in double-digit points tonight. The team high came from Cory Blau who earned 25 points and five assists this evening. Britton Williams put fifteen points on the board and, as mentioned earlier, had an impressive six assists with just one turnover.  As usual, senior Center Daniel Carlin was holding it down in the paint with eight rebounds and 13 points.

This weekend featured some of the top competition that the Warriors will face all season.  Though there were some challenges, the experience that this young squad gained is irreplaceable. "With Cal Poly Pomona, they are a team who are going to execute things very well and I loved the way that we played in the second half.  Tonight against San Bernardino, I think we played very well the whole time," closed out John Moore.

The Warriors will take the court again on the road next Friday November 21 as they take on CSU Dominguez Hills at 7:30 p.m.
