It took two header goals off of two set pieces in the final twenty minutes of the game for the #5 Westmont Women's Soccer team (10-2-2, 5-0-2) to defeat Menlo (8-5-4, 4-4-1) on the road. The final score of the game was 2-0.

After a scoreless first half, senior Angela Brown produced a pair of sweet signature corner kicks that were capitalized on by senior Kelsey Steck and sophomore Alanna Richards.

Steck, who won her second Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier this week, continued her offensive success by scoring a header goal off of Brown's corner kick in the 72nd minute.

Seven minutes later, Richards increased this lead when she scored her third header goal of the season in the 79th minute off of yet another corner kick by Brown.

"I think our execution off of set pieces has been fantastic so far this season and so it was great to see them finish more of these opportunities today," explained head coach Chantel Cappuccilli. "Angela Brown had phenomenal distribution that created these important offensive opportunities."

After today's game, Brown leads the team in assists with eight on the season.

"Overall, we played as a strong cohesive unit and it was a wonderful team performance," continued Cappuccilli.

This was huge win for us and a step in the right direction as we approach the next game. It is still very important that we continue to take things a game at a time."

The Warriors will remain on the road as they prepare to face William Jessup (9-6, 2-5) this coming Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in their third to last GSAC conference game of the season.
