Westmont Men's Soccer (6-4, 3-2 GSAC) started the two-game road trip with a 4-0 shutout of Golden State Athletic Conference foe Arizona Christian (4-8, 0-5) on Saturday afternoon.
Matt Lariviere scored twice for the Warriors to record his fifth and sixth goals of the season.
The Warriors outshot the Firestorm 25-9 in the contest, placing 14 of their shots on goal. Westmont goalkeeper Lalo Delgado warded off two shots on goal to record his second shutout of the season.
The first goal came in the ninth minute when
Matt Lariviere finished a pass from the right side by
Yazi Hernandez. Eleven minutes later, the Warriors went up 2-0 when
Austin Lack put in a rebounded shot off of a free kick.
Four minutes into the second half, Lariviere struck again. This time he headed in a cross from the right side by
Nate Ruble.
Jeremiah Anderson scored the final goal for the Warriors in the 53rd minute. Hernandez picked up his second assist of the day with a cross from the left side that Anderson drilled into the net.
The Warriors jump on the bus tomorrow and drive to San Diego for a game with the Hawks of San Diego Christian on Monday. The Hawks (6-7, 1-4) posted a 1-0 double overtime win over #18 Biola (8-4, 3-3) today to earn their first conference win of the season.
In other GSAC action, Hope International (10-0-2, 4-0) knocked off #12 Vanguard (7-3, 2-3) by a score of 2-1 and William Jessup (7-3-1, 2-1-1) upended The Master's (7-4-1, 2-2) by a 2-1 mark in double overtime play.
Halfway through the GSAC season, Westmont is currently tied for third place with Biola in the GSAC standings with nine points (three for a win, one for a tie). Hope International is in first place with 12 points and Menlo (9-2-1, 3-0-1) claims second with ten points.
