Westmont’s Team Play Grounds Firebirds

With 14 rebounds, 12 assists and nine points, Kayla Sato had an impressive showing and nearly notched an triple-double to lead fourth ranked Westmont Women's Basketball (9-1, 2-1 GSAC) to a smooth 94-22 victory over Saint Katherine (2-8). Sato also had four steals as well as zero turnovers to her assists.

Additionally, Lauren McCoy notched a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

The Warriors exhibited consistent productivity no matter who was on the court – all nine players scored over five points each. Furthermore the Warriors displayed incredibly unselfish team play, as most of their points came off of assists – Westmont had 31 assists on the night.

Three other Warriors were key contributors on the night and scored in the double-digits – Aysia Shellmire was 11 for 13 from the floor and one for two from the free throw line in a game high of 23 points, Joy Krupa put up 12, and Morgan Haskin had 11.

Up next, Westmont will host Goshen College (6-6) on Wednesday December 28 at 5:30 p.m. After that, the Warriors will host the Holiday Classic where they will face Southwestern College on Thursday December 29 at 5:30 p.m. and University of British Columbia on Friday December 30 at 5:30 p.m.
