Aysia Shellmire went 9-11 from the floor with 18 points and Kayla Sato had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead #4 Westmont Women's Basketball (11-1) to an impressive 84-34 victory over Southwestern (8-7). Morgan Haskin was also a key contributor in tonight's game with 13 points and five blocks.

Four and a half minutes into the first quarter, the score was a tight 13-11 favoring the Warriors; then Westmont went on a six-point run to finish out the quarter with an eight point lead (19-11).

The Warriors increased their lead to 31 when they went on a shooting spree in a 25-2 run that lasted the entire second quarter (44-13). The run consisted of two layups and two jump shots by Sato, three layups by Shellmire, two layups by Haskin, a layup by Lauren McCoy, and a three-pointer by Cora Chan.

The Warriors improved upon this lead in the third and fourth quarters when they outscored the Moundbuilders 21-14 and 19-7 respectively.

This is the Warriors first of two games in the Holiday Classic Women's Basketball Tournament. Earlier today, the Master's defeated British Columbia by a score of 64-40.

The Master's were down 13-16 after the first quarter, but outscored the Thunderbirds 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 32-24 lead to end the first half. The Mustangs improved upon this lead when they outscored British Columbia 12-5 and 20-11 in the third and fourth quarters. The Master's was led in points by Ashley Bartow with 12, and in rebounds by Bianca Cubello with eight. British Columbia was led in points by Keylyn Filewich with 11 and in rebounds by Andrea Strujic with 7.

The Holiday Classic will continue into tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. game between The Master's and Southwestern and a 5:30 p.m. game between Westmont and British Columbia.
