In their first home game of the season, seventh ranked Westmont Women's Soccer (4-0) put away ten goals to shut out the Soka Lions – the final score was 10-0.

This game is second in Westmont Women's Soccer history for the most goals scored in a game (the only other time the Warriors have scored more goals in a game was in August of 2003 when Westmont defeated Dominican by a score of 13-0).

Six goals were scored in the first half – Brooke Lillywhite had two and Haley Parzonko, Destinee Adams, Maddie Berthoud, and Renee Gonsalves each had one.

Lillywhite scored the first goal of the game in the eleventh minute when Berthoud played her a perfectly weighted ball across the face of the goal. From five yards out, Lillywhite put the ball away with a one-time shot.

The second goal came in the 22nd minute when center back Sophie Fuller dribbled from her defensive line down the middle of the field towards the Soka goal box. Fuller then played a through ball to Parzonko, who fired the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal. Five minutes later, Adams scored the Warriors' third goal when she went on a powerful defensive drive down the center of the field and fired off a shot from the top of the 18 yard box.

In the 34th minute, Berthoud scored the fourth goal of the game when she dribbled into the Lion's 18 yard box and slotted the ball into the right side of the goal from eight yards out. Goal number five came just two minutes later when, off of a corner kick, Grace Lemley found the head of an airborne Renee Gonsalves – this was Gonsalves' first goal of the season. Lillywhite scored the sixth goal of the game as well as her sixth goal of the season in the 39th minute with a bullet of a shot from ten yards out.

The final four goals were scored in the second half – Avalon Albright had two and Fuller and Sarah Newton each had one.

Just two minutes into the second half, Fuller dribbled all the way down the left sideline, into the Lion's six-yard box and fired off a shot from four yards out to score her first goal of the season. Goal number eight came in the 57th minute when Haley Johnson fired off a shot that rebounded off the crossbar. Newton capitalized off of the rebound and scored her first ever collegiate goal. The final two goals of the game came off of the foot of Albright in both the 61st and 80th minutes – one was off of a shot hit from ten yards out, and the other was off of a slotted shot from five yards out.

Head coach Chantel Cappuccilli reflected on the Warriors' performance.

"I am extremely impressed with our ability to keep up the intensity for 90 minutes," said Cappuccilli. "That speaks volumes, because at the end of the day I want us to be able to play at that pace no matter the setting that we are in. The way in which the women carried themselves no matter who was on the field was also impressive."

"I am very happy with the way in which my senior class is leading the team," continued Cappuccilli, "and am also happy with the ways in which the other classes are stepping up and leading."

Next week, the Warriors will travel north to play Division III University of Redlands (1-0) on Wednesday September 7 at 7:00 p.m.

"University of Redlands won their regular season conference last year and so I expect it to be a competitive game," noted Cappuccilli. "Away games always create a different type of challenge than being at home, so I am looking forward to meeting that challenge. In all it is something that we are up for and we look forward to competing."
