With a pair of goals in each half, #7 Westmont Women's Soccer (5-0) downed the Division III University of Redlands Bulldogs (1-2) by a score of 4-0.

Coming off of the momentum from a 10-0 victory the previous Saturday the undefeated Warriors wasted no time in finding the back of the net when in the third minute senior Brooke Lillywhite hit a volley off of a corner kick by senior Grace Lemley.

The game was scoreless for the next 39 minutes until Lemley beat a Bulldog defender and fired off a perfectly placed shot into the upper right corner of the goal.

In the first half seniors were responsible for the goal scoring, and in the second half it was the freshmen that were responsible.

Freshman Maddi Berthoud scored the first goal of the second half in the 70th minute when she maneuvered around three Bulldog defenders and slotted the ball into the bottom right side of the goal. Eleven minutes later freshman Kira Nemeth scored the fourth goal of the game as well as her first ever collegiate goal. The goal began when Grayce DeGroot played her a firm ball into the 18 yard box, then Nemeth took a touch and slotted the ball into the lower right corner of the goal.

The Warriors were an offensive force and took a total of 35 shots – the Bulldogs took two shots. With this victory, the Warriors currently average over five goals a game.

"I am happy to get the result on the road today," reflected head coach Chantel Cappuccilli. "I really appreciate our ability to respond to the challenges that come with an away game. We created a significant amount of chances within the match but all in all we were able to finish on four of them."

"I am really proud of Grace Lemley for getting an assist and a goal today," continued Cappuccilli. "As an outside back that is not an easy feat, so I applaud her for those efforts.

This coming Saturday the Warriors will host Embry-Riddle (3-0-1) of Arizona at 12:00 p.m. on Thorrington Field.

"We are looking forward to having another home game on Saturday against Embry-Riddle," noted Cappuccilli. "The last time we saw them was in the first round of the national tournament last year. I know that they are going to be looking to compete and make a statement on us."
