In their third Golden State Athletic Conference game of the season, Lauren McCoy earned a double-double and three other Warriors scored in the double-digits to lead #4 Westmont Women's Basketball (13-1, 3-0 GSAC) to a 64-55 victory over Arizona Christian (7-6, 1-1 GSAC) – Lauren McCoy had 11 points and 12 rebounds, Kayla Sato put up 14 points, Cora Chan had 12, and Morgan Haskin had 10.

The Warriors began the game with a 10-3 run in which five different Warriors contributed – Aysia Shellmire put up a layup 16 seconds in and then 12 seconds later McCoy had a steal that she converted into a layup. The Firestorm's Courtney Christmas answered back with two successful free throws and her teammate Courtney Leach added on another free throw. Sato followed with a steal that she converted into a jump shot, Haskin added on a jump shot, and Chan finished with yet another jump shot. The first quarter ended with the Warriors ahead 22-14.

The second quarter was much closer, as the Firestorm put up 14 points and held the Warriors to 16 (38-28). However, in the third quarter, Westmont went on a 12-2 run to take a twenty point lead - their largest of the game (50-30). Shellmire had layup and a jump shot; Sato had a jump shot and a free throw; and McCoy had three free throws and a layup. Immediately following this run, the Firestorm began to bridge the gap and went on a six point run to finish out the quarter (36-50).

Throughout the fourth period, the firestorm chipped away at the gap, until they were only seven points behind with 1:40 left to play (52-59). However, Sato and Chan made three and two free throws, respectively to maintain the Warriors' lead to close out the game.

Coming up, the Warriors will continue conference play with a home game against Biola this Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
