(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Rain in the Santa Barbara area has forced the postponement of what was scheduled to be #8 Westmont Baseball's season opener against La Sierra.
Â
Originally scheduled for a doubleheader, the opener was changed to a single game yesterday because of a forecast of overnight rain. However, more rain fell than was anticipated and it has continued to rain this morning. The call to cancel the game was made at 9:00 a.m.
Â
As a result, tomorrow's scheduled doubleheader against #1 Lewis-Clark State will serve as the season opener for both teams. Lewis-Clark State, which also uses the moniker of the "Warriors", won the NAIA World Series the last two seasons (2015 and 2016) and finished second in 2013 and 2014. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., weather permitting.
