(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) The Warriors (24-15, 10-11 GSAC) hit three home runs in a 15-0 victory over Hope International University (22-12, 13-9 GSAC). It is the second time this season that the Warriors have won by this same score line. The first batter of the evening, Brody Weis, homered to give Westmont a 1-0 lead. The momentum-grabbing shot was Brody's second home run of the season. Weis was an offensive force all night. He nearly hit for the cycle. Travis Vander Molen hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to push Westmont's lead to four. Westmont put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with eight runs on five hits. Luke Coffey drove in three of those eight runs with a homer over the right field fence.
The Royals had little response for pitcher Daniel Butler. Butler's complete-game shutout is especially impressive considering the fact that he was guarding a one-run lead for four innings. The undaunted senior earned his fifth win of the season after striking out 11 players. Tonight was a great night for Westmont baseball! The victory comes on the eve of a doubleheader which begins tomorrow at 11:00 AM against the same opponent. Â
