(RIVERSIDE, Calif.) Thirteenth ranked Westmont Men's Tennis (0-1) dropped their season opener Saturday 0-7 to Division I UC Riverside (2-2).

The Highlanders took the lone doubles' point going two and one in doubles play. UC Riverside won the first two doubles matches when Anderson Ju and Nabil Abdallah defeated
Jordan Strandness and
Corey Stephens 6-3 and Kyle McCann and Filip Engstrom overcame
John T. Joens and
Miles Hale 6-4. Westmont's
Christian Mathis and
Luke Whalen took down Benjamin Kilcher and Vignesh Subramanyan 7-5.

UC Riverside would sweep the singles matches. Subramanyan defeated Strandness 6-3, 6-0. Engstrom narrowly edged Joens in a three set thriller 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (12-10). Ju took down
Austin Lee 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Kilcherr escaped Whalen 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. McCann overcame Mathis 6-2, 6-4 and Abdallah conquered Hale 6-2, 6-4.

Coming up, the Warriors will head down south to face Irvine Valley College in Irvine on Friday, February 9 at 12:00 p.m. They will then head to Claremont to play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Saturday, February 10 at 3:00 p.m.
