Â
(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Often referred to as the, 'Best night of the year', Westmont Athletics was not about to allow the annual Golden Eagle awards ceremony to be canceled by COVID-19. While it became inappropriate to meet together in a banquet setting, as has been the custom for the last 25 years, this year's award recipients are honored in a virtual feast.
Â
The Golden Eagle Award began in 1995 with the support of Pete and Gerd Jordano of the Pacific Beverage Company, who have sponsored the awards ceremony every year since. The Jordanos, along with then president David Winter and his wife Helene, conceived of the award as a way to honor students who have achieved athletically, academically, spiritually and socially. Each recipient must be at least a sophomore in standing, possess a minimum GPA of 3.2 and have the nomination and support of their coach.

The Golden Eagle video, which can be accessed at

Kirsten Moore, associate athletic director and head women's basketball coach, serves as the master of ceremonies. Westmont President Gayle Beebe and
Dave Odell, Westmont's athletic director, also offer their congratulations to the awardees.
