(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Westmont Men's Tennis started the 2021 season by hosting NCAA Division II Concordia on Wednesday at the Abbott Tennis Courts. The Eagles defeated the Warriors 6-1.

Concordia collected the doubles point by claiming wins on courts one and two. At number one, Concordia's Yassine Smiej and Mike Jansen defeated
Ethan Ha and
Callen Hein 6-1. On the number two court, Jan Simon and Patrick Wong posted a 6-2 win over
Logan Thompson and Benjamine Saito.

The number three doubles court, however, saw Westmont triumph with Matthew Alleman and
Sebastian Vethan recording a 6-2 win over Sofian Taybei Alaoui and Gertjan De Wilder.

In singles play, Westmont's lone win came on court three when Hein defeated Jansen. Hein won the first set 6-3, but Jansen evened things up with a 7-5 score. In a super tiebreaker, Hein prevailed 12-10.

At number one singles, Smiej defeated Logan 6-1, 6-3 while at number two Wong posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ha.

Simon claimed a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Alleman on four and Taybei Alaoui defeated Saito 60-61 on court five. Over on court six, Giuliano Maderner defeated Vethan 6-4, 6-3.

Westmont will next play on Friday, February 18 at Saint Katherine.
