(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) Westmont Women's Soccer (0-2) suffered another 1-0 loss, this time at the hands of Point Loma Nazarene (2-0).

"I thought we brought good energy and focus to the first half," reflected Westmont head coach Jenny Jaggard.  "We were very successful at high pressing their back line and were able to win the ball and get it into good positions for finishing. In the first half, the piece we were missing was knowing when to take shots.  We passed up a few good opportunities that could have made the difference.  We just didn't test their goalkeeper the way we could have. The first half was a pretty even game with both teams getting five shots a piece.

"The difference in the game came early in the second half when Point Loma scored from a wide cross to a runner inside our goal box."

Ashlee Watkins scored the game's only goal in the 47th minute. After receiving a cross from the left side, she settled the ball and shot to the top left corner of the goal.

"We need to improve our ability to track runs in the box and win 50/50 battles there," assessed Jaggard. "We don't have the depth to press our opponent the way we did the first 45 minutes for a full 90 minutes. In the second half fatigue set in and we struggled to keep up with the speed of the game and to connect passes."

"Point Loma was very dynamic in the midfield and that gave us trouble both in defending and attacking. Overall, I felt that our team improved from our game against Fresno Pacific. We are building chemistry on the field, identifying areas of our game we need to improve, and determining the most effective style of play for our current squad."

Westmont will get its next chance to improve on Wednesday, February 17, when the Warriors travel to La Mirada to take on Biola.
