(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.) Westmont Men's Tennis (1-3) picked up its first win of the year with a 7-2 victory over California Lutheran (0-2) on Thursday.

In doubles play, the Kingsmen picked up the first point of the day when Shawn Rothermel and Sean Yaghoubi posted an 8-3 victory over Sebastian Vethan and Benjamin Saito on the number three court. Logan Thompson and Matthew Alleman evened the overall score at one point each by winning 8-2 over Jacob Bear and Ben Vincze on court number two.

Meanwhile, on court number one, Westmont's Callen Hein and Ethan Ha were in a close battle with Charlie Spina and Ryan Murphy. Tied at seven sets each, Hein and Ha prevailed in the tiebreaker by a score of 9-7, putting the Warriors on top 2-1 going into single play.

Spina defeated Thompson 6-0, 6-4 at number one singles, to tie the match at two points each. It proved to be the last point California Lutheran would take.

On court six, Vethan posted a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Murphy, putting Westmont up 3-2. Then, Ha made it 4-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Darvel Lossongoye on the number two court. The clinching point came on the number five court where Saito posted a 6-4, 6-2 over Vincze.

The singles matches on the number three and four courts were played to completion with Hein notching a 7-6 (7), 6-0 victory over Rothermel at number three. Alleman rallied from a first-set loss to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 on court number four over Bear.

The Warriors play two more road matches this week, taking on Hope International on Friday and Saint Katherine on Saturday.
