(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) After a 5-5 start to their season, #15 Westmont (8-5, 2-0) went on a three-match winning streak last week, which included their first two wins in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

After playing a large role in the Warrior's success, sophomore outside hitter Phoebe Minch has been named GSAC Attacker of the Week for the first time in her career.

Through the first 13 matches of the season, Minch is leading the way for the Warriors in practically every offensive category. The sophomore currently leads the club in kills (155), kills per set (2.92), and also leads the club with 32 service aces, 21 more than the next closest player.

"I affectionately call her 'the quiet assassin'," said Westmont head coach Ruth McGolpin. "She doesn't say much on the floor, and instead she lets her play speak for itself. As a six-rotation outside hitter, she is continually building confidence and getting better daily."

In the club's final tune-up before GSAC play last Wednesday, Minch recorded a match-high 15 kills against Westcliff while also adding 10 digs in a four-set win for the Warriors. Then, in the club's GSAC opener on Friday, Minch collected a career-high 22 kills on 63 attempts as Westmont bested Life Pacific in five sets. Minch also recorded 17 digs on Friday.

On Saturday night, Minch capped off her week with another 13 kills and 12 digs as Westmont downed Vanguard in four sets to finish off a 3-0 week.

Minch and the Warriors now go on the road for the rest of September before playing their next home game on October 1. Westmont will spend this weekend in Arizona as they take on Arizona Christian on Friday night before playing OUAZ on Saturday.

Stories and statistics from the weekend will be available on the Westmont Athletics website, where you can also find links to live coverage from the host schools.
