(ALISO VIEJO, Calif.) Westmont's
Reese Davidson has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the third time this season. 'Three' has become a bit of a theme for the senior forward who, for the third time this season, scored three goals in one game.
Â
"Reese has become the heart of the team this year," said Westmont head coach
Jenny Jaggard. "It has been building her entire career. She has a huge heart and has been incredibly disciplined. Her work rate is one of the most impressive consistently over time of any player I have ever coached. She has put in the time and effort to make this happen both with her team and in doing individual training."
Â
Against San Diego Christian last Saturday, Davidson scored in the 53rd minute, volleying in a corner kick from Ande Siegle. Then in the 65th minute,
Sadie Hill sent a ball to Davidson who was in the middle of the field. Davidson touched the ball laterally then fired into the net. In the 76th minute, Davidson headed in a cross from Siegel to make the score 4-0.
Â
Davidson leads the GSAC in scoring with 14 goals, four more than three other conference players who have 10 each.
Â
The Warriors (10-0-3, 5-0-1) are in first place in the GSAC standings and will conclude GSAC play this week with home games on Thursday against William Jessup and Saturday against Menlo. With a win and a tie, Westmont can claim the GSAC Regular Season Championship.
