Westmont to Host NAIA Opening Round Tournament

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) For the first time in its history, Westmont Women's Basketball will host national championships games on its home court. Westmont has been named a host site for one of 16 NAIA National Championship Opening Round Tournaments to be held on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12.
 
Two semifinal games will take place on Friday, March 11 in Murchison Gymnasium with the winners advancing to the Opening Round final on Saturday. The tournament winner will advance with the winners of the other Opening Round Tournaments to the NAIA Final Site in Sioux City, Iowa where the balance of the championship will be played. Play in Sioux City will commence on March 17 and concluded with the national championship game on March 22.
 
The entire 64-team bracket, including the other three teams assigned to the Santa Barbara Opening Round Tournament, will be announced on Thursday, March 3.

Westmont (23-3), the second-ranked team in the NAIA, begins play today (Thursday) in the Golden State Athletic Conference championships. The top-seeded Warriors will take on San Diego Christian at 5:00 p.m. in a quarterfinal game. The tournament is being hosted in Santa Clarita by The Master's University.
