(ALISO VIEJO, Calif.) Westmont junior Simon Reid celebrated turning 21 years old on Tuesday, and on the morning of his birthday, the Golden State Athletic Conference was among the first to give him a gift. After helping lead Westmont to a three-game sweep over Academy of Art, Reid was named the GSAC Player of the Week.

Reid is the fifth Warrior to earn the weekly honor in 2022, joining Bryan Peck, Bradley Heacock, Brady Renck, and Justin Rodriguez.

Over the first two games of the series, Reid went 5-9 with four runs scored, three RBIs, three doubles, and a home run. Reid also drove in a run in the series finale when he went hitless in two at bats.

His biggest swing of the weekend came in game one on Saturday, when the Warriors entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 7-4. Reid hit a bullet over the wall in right-center field to lead off the ninth with a homer, kick-starting a four-run rally by the Warriors that ultimately gave them an 8-7 walk-off win.

On the season, Reid is hitting exactly .400 with 66 hits in 165 at bats. The junior catcher currently has nine home runs, 45 RBIs, 18 doubles, 24 runs scored, 115 total bases, and an OPS of 1.138.

Reid's .400 batting average is the second-highest in the GSAC.

Going into the final weekend of GSAC regular season play, Reid and the Warriors have a two game lead over Hope International, and a three game lead over Vanguard for first-place in the conference.

With a four-game set against the Lions beginning on Friday in Costa Mesa, the magic number for the Warriors to clinch in the regular season title is three. Going into the series, the Warriors are 39-6, and rapidly approaching the program's single season wins record of 42.
