(MOORPARK, Calif.) Competing for the first time since the first of November, Westmont's men's and women's golf teams started off the 2023 spring campaign by hosting the Spring Shootout at Rustic Canyon. The event consisted of a single round of 18 holes.

The men's team won its third tournament of the year, posting a score of 304 to edge out Occidental, who finished second with a score of 308. Hope International claimed third place at 309 while Vanguard finished fourth with a score of 318.

Vanguard's Blake Contente won the individual title, carding an even par 72. Miles Eastman of Occidental finished second with a two-over 74. Five men shot a 75 to tie for third place including
Noah Lodewyk and
Brock Yurkovich of Westmont.

Westmont's
Danny Manginelli tied for eighth place with 76 strokes, while Payton Hendricks and Allen Cooper posted scores of 77 to tie for 10th.
Andy Knight carded a 78 for 12th place.

The women's team did not fare as well, finishing third behind Vanguard, who won the event with a score of 323, and Hope International, who placed second with a score of 337.

Elizabeth Oloteo had the best round for the Warriors, carding a 12-over 84 to tie for fifth place.
Kat Bevill tied for ninth with 86 strokes.
Meredith McDougal and
Serena Jonay Garcia each shot an 88 to tie for 12th.

The women's tournament was won by Annabell Le of Vanguard who finished with a five-over 77.

Both the men's and women's teams return to action on Monday and Tuesday, February 27-28 when they host the Warrior Invitational at Olivas Park Golf Course in Ventura.
