Warriors Can't Complete Comeback

(IRVINE, Calif.) Taking on the Golden Eagles of Concordia Irvine for the first time in nine years, Westmont Women's Basketball fell by a score of 62-46.
 
The Warriors (6-10, 3-6) had their offense fail them in the first half, scoring just four points in each of the first two quarters and trailing 33-8 at halftime. However, Westmont found its game in the second half, outscoring the Golden Eagles (7-8, 5-4) 16-9 in the third quarter and 22-19 in the final frame.
 
Westmont cut the lead to just 10 points (55-45) with two minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Concordia made six of eight free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
 
Three Warriors scored in double figures, led by Bailey Fong with 14. Eight of her points came on 10 free throw attempts. Sage Kramer tallied 13 points and was six of 10 from the field. She also tallied seven rebounds and three steals. Kate Goostrey notched 11 points on four-of-nine shooting.
 
There were 51 personal fouls called during the game and the two teams combined for 58 free throw attempts. Westmont made 17 of 28 attempts from the charity stripe while Concordia converted 23 of 30.
 
Concordia won the battle of the boards with 41 rebounds to 35 for the Warriors. Turnovers were even with each team committing 17.
 
The Warriors return to play next Saturday when they travel to La Mirada to take on the Eagles of Biola.
