(SAN DIEGO) Westmont Women's Soccer (2-6-2, 2-1 PacWest) took on the reigning NCAA Division II National Champions on Saturday and found themselves falling to Point Loma (7-1-1, 4-0).

"Tough game today," said Westmont's head coach Jenny Jaggard. "Point Loma is just another level right now. Every time we got the ball anywhere on the field we were pressured so hard that we just never found offensive rhythm. This game is an experience for our team to see that there is a whole next level we need to be striving for to get to the top at the DII level."

The Warriors were subjected to 21 Sea Lion shots, seven of which were on goal. Westmont took just four shots, placing two on goal.

"I am very proud of Ellie Ludwig's performance in goal today," noted Jaggard. "She made some great saves and did a good job organizing the play in front of her.  I also thought our back line was good during the first half. We just got tired and we don't have depth there right now."

The Warriors held the national champs scoreless until the 62nd minute. That's when Jillian Tubbs sent a ball across the face of the goal from left to right and Bethany Arabe tapped it in from two yards out.

The Sea Lions scored again in the 74th minute. Alyssa Ketcham dribbled to the end line, right of the goal, then passed from right to left across the goal's face. This time it was Andrea Lozano who tapped it in from two yards out.

The Warriors will be back in action next Thursday when they travel south again – this time headed for Costa Mesa and a date with the Lions of Vanguard (2-5, 1-2). Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
