(BURNABY, British Columbia) Westmont Women's Basketball (0-2) suffered a 73-49 loss to the Red Leafs of Simon Fraser (4-1) on Saturday in its second game of the year.

"It was definitely a rough game out there tonight," said Westmont's head coach Kirsten Moore. "We showed our youth in a lot of ways. I am very confident in the direction this team is going to go and how this will make us better, but the game exposed our inexperience out there. I am excited to learn and grow from it."

Junior transfer Noemie Bariteau led the Warriors in scoring with 16 points while Sage Kramer added 14. Lisa Kiefer was Westmont's leading rebounder with 12 boards.

The game started well for the Warriors who jumped out to a 9-4 lead courtesy of a 3-pointer and a layup by Kramer and a pair of buckets by Molly Garnand. However, the Red Leafs responded with a 13-2 run to close out the opening frame.  By halftime, Simon Fraser held a 30-19 lead and the Red Leafs never looked back.

"We get to head back home and have important home games against two more very good teams," said Moore. "We are looking forward to playing in front of our fans on Friday. Hopefully, people will come out and support us as we continue building this team."

The Warriors will host a PacWest/GNAC Conference Crossover next weekend with Vanguard, Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) and Central Washington coming to town.

On Friday, the Warriors will face off with Northwest Nazarene in a 3:00 p.m. game and Vanguard will take on Central Washington at 5:00 p.m.

Then on Saturday, Vanguard and Northwest Nazarene will play at 5:00 p.m. with Westmont and Central Washington scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
