In singles, Aguirre made quick work of Zeraatkaar on one (6-0, 6-3), and Madarang for the better of Suryayanshi on two (6-3, 6-1). On three, Ostovany dispatched Arendt 6-2, 6-0, and on five,
Sabina Salva defeated Davis 6-3, 6-1.
Westmont's final win came on six, where
Logan Jackson defeated Sofia Borovkov 6-1, 6-1.
"It was a great match," said Westmont head coach
Cade Pierson. "I think today was really great for team confidence and morale. It was great to see some things come together, and come together during a win. Whittier played well, and we had to play well to beat them.
"Doubles was good. Francesca and Olivia had a slow start, but we were able to get it done on two and three, which was good. Then in singles, we took care of business. I think we knew that today would be an opportunity for us to get a win, and we managed those expectations and that pressure well.
Pierson continued, "There was really good team energy from top-to-bottom, and we competed really well. We've been talking a lot about building confidence as a team, and I think we saw some growth in that area today. I'm excited to see us carry that forward next week."
Westmont returns to action on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m., when they host Point Loma in Santa Barbara.
