(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) Westmont Women's Tennis was unable to find much success in a three-game road trip this weekend in the bay area. Stops for the Warriors included a visit to the Menlo Oaks in Atherton, the Dominican Penguins in San Rafael, and the Academy of Art Urban Knights in San Francisco.
On Thursday in Atherton, the Oaks defeated Westmont 5-2 in a matchup of the old GSAC rivals. Westmont's two points came during singles, where
Sophia Ostovany and
Sabina Salva got the Warriors on the board. On two, Ostovany defeated Franziksa Niederle 7-5, 3-6, 10-1, and on three, Salva bested Livia Harper 7-6 (4), 6-3.
On Friday in San Rafael the Penguins swept Westmont 7-0, with the Warriors unable to force a singles match to a third set. One of Westmont's better fights came on six, where
Liska Knight ultimately fell 6-4 6-1 to Craig Astrid.
On Saturday in San Francisco, ART U also defeated Westmont 7-0. Ostovany came narrowly close to winning the first set over Najean Estelle on three, but instead, Estelle outlasted Ostovany 7-5 before finishing the match with a 6-1 win in the second set.
The Warriors return to Santa Barbara this week for a trio of matches, beginning on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. when they host MSU Denver.
