Warriors Fall to Seawolves

(ROHNERT PARK, Calif.) The road trip didn't end well for Westmont Women's Soccer (0-4-2) who fell 1-0 to Sonoma State (2-2-2) at Seawolf Soccer Field.

"We played poorly," said Westmont's head coach Jenny Jaggard. "Very few players had a good game, which is part of the problem. We had too many individuals not playing well. Add that together and the team concept falls apart."

The game's only goal came in just the fourth minute of play. A Seawolf corner kick was sent in from the left side but cleared out by the Warriors' Alyssa Zahiralis. Unfortunately for Westmont, Olivia Wilson ran on the loose ball and sent it back into the box where Ashely Frye headed it into the goal from 10 yards out.

Neither team scored in the remaining 86 minutes of play.

Sonoma State outshot the Warriors 21 to six including posting an eight-to-two advantage of shots on goal. Westmont keeper Maya Pablos was credited with seven saves on the day.

Perhaps the most dangerous opportunity for the Warriors came in the final minute of the first half when Sierra Martin fired off a shot from 24 yards out toward the far post. A diving save by Seawolves' keeper Ariana Beddoes, however, preserved Sonoma State's lead.

"It has been a long road trip and we don't get home until 1:00 a.m. Monday," said Jaggard. "So, it's going to be challenging bouncing back and being ready for another tough game Thursday, but that's what we will be working towards."

In their final non-conference game of the year, the Warriors will take on CSU San Bernardino (0-1-3). Thursday's kick-off at Thorrington Field is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
