Regardless of outcome the day was guaranteed to be special for the Warriors, who celebrated alumni day inside of Murchison Gym. In a special ceremony at halftime, the Warriors welcomed home the 1983-84 men's basketball team, which is widely considered to be one of the best basketball teams in Westmont College history. The '83-'84 team went 31-4 and reached the NAIA semi-finals, while posting a perfect 14-0 record inside The Murch. Joining the Warriors on the floor during halftime were their coaches, Chet Kammerer and Randy Pfund.
In attendance from the '83-'84 team were Kent Eaton, Dave Schulz, Joe West, Jeff Crosby, Mike Moore, Todd Hardeman, Bill Thompson, and Jeff Azain. Following the game, the guys then gathered in the Global Leader Center for a reception hosted by Westmont's Executive AD, and former Westmont Basketball player himself,
Dave Odell. Together, the Warriors reminisced on the good old days, when they donned their Westmont uniforms over 40 years ago.
Speaking of tradition, the '24-'25 Warriors will renew a longstanding rivalry on Wednesday night in Santa Barbara, when the Warriors play host to the Biola Eagles inside Murchison Gym. Links to tickets and live coverage will be available on the Westmont Athletics website.
