(PALM DESERT, Calif.) Westmont Women's Golf competed at the Avondale Golf Club in Palm Desert earlier this week, participating in the Lady Bulldog Desert Classic hosted by Union University of Jackson, Tennessee. Though the Warriors finished fifth of five teams, Westmont's head coach Leo Maes saw a lot of positive results from the tournament.

"The Lady Bulldog Tournament was an exciting and memorable event for our team," expressed Maes. "It marked the first time Union hosted in beautiful Palm Desert, and we're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to compete in such a fantastic setting.

"Although the overall scores may not reflect it, the team showed great heart and competitiveness from start to finish. Every player battled hard and stayed locked in, showing the kind of grit and growth we're aiming for this season."

Among the highlights was the return of Noelle Thompson to competition.

"Noelle has shown tremendous resilience and dedication," pointed out Maes. "Since May, she's been working tirelessly to get back to 100%. Seeing her back on the course with her teammates was a success in itself. She played some really solid golf on the second day, but more than the score, it was her presence and perseverance that stood out."

Thompson posted rounds of 85 and 84 on the first day, then shot a 76 on day two, finishing in 30th place.

"Another standout performance came from Jenna Trinidad, our talented freshman," noted Maes. "Jenna continues to grow and learn with each tournament, and she posted her best round of the season during the second round, shooting four-over par. It was a great step forward in her development and a sign of exciting things to come."

Trinidad had rounds of 82, 76 and 80 and finished in 22nd place.

Hannah Camara was Westmont's top finisher, posting a three-day total of 228 with rounds of 79, 74 and 75. Camara tied for tenth place.

Sydnee Magpoc posted a 230 with rounds of 77, 78 and 75 to tie for 13th. Karis Haltom was one stroke back with rounds of 79, 76 and 76, finishing in 16th place.

"It's been a fun and productive three weeks of competition, and we're looking forward to this short break to rest, refocus, and prepare for the upcoming East Bay Fall Invitational," said Maes.

That tournament takes place on October 27-28 at the Stonebrae Country Club in Hayward.
