(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Maddie Finnegan was named to the All-PacWest Second Team on Wednesday, following the sophomore's standout second season in Santa Barbara. Finnegan led Westmont with 312 kills during the campaign, with the Spokane, Washington native posting the eighth-most kills in the conference.

Finnegan, who also led Westmont with 28 service aces, finished with double-digit kills on 18 occasions this year, with a career-high 23 kills coming on November 7 against Vanguard. Defensively Finnegan stayed busy as well, collecting the second-most digs on the team (280), while also being credited with 27 blocks. Finnegan was also reliable from an availability standpoint, starting in every match without missing a single set throughout the year.

"Well deserved," said Westmont head coach Ruth McGolpin. "She, along with Rylee Elias, anchored our back row all year long. She got served probably 250 more times than anybody on the team, and her passing was phenomenal for an outside hitter.

"Maddie is a super passionate player. She can be so fiery, and she took on a lot of leadership this year. She took on a lot of the emotional leadership for our team, and she did so in a good way. To be recognized in this realm, with such great outside hitters in this conference, it is pretty exciting for Maddie and it is pretty exciting for Westmont."

When asked what Finnegan improved most upon between her freshman and sophomore campaigns, McGolpin said, "She is steadier. Not just in her play, but her physical, emotional, and mental state. For Maddie, she has matured and blossomed in every way.

"The exciting thing is, she is only going to continue to get better."

The Warriors will return to PacWest play in 2026.
