(MONMOUTH, Ore.) The Westmont Men's Cross Country team saw its top-five consist of one junior, one sophomore, and three freshmen on Saturday at the NCAA Division II West Regionals in Monmouth, Oregon. The young core creates reason for Westmont Cross Country fans to feel excited about their future, as the Warriors finished in 15th out of 23 schools in the 10K.

"It was a great day of racing in Monmouth," assured Coach Chris Hanessian. "This young team finished in a position similar to where we finished last season, which is more than respectable for such a young team. These were respectable times in the 10K, and they guys showed that we are learning and improving."

Leading the way for Westmont was the elder-statesmen, Luke Hein, who ended his junior season with a 60th-place finish and a time of 31:31.09. After Hein All-PacWest sophomore Samuel Nealon finished in 68th, with a time of 31:45.57, followed by freshman Lucas Satterlee who came in 71st with a time of 31:52.82. Rounding out Westmont's five-best was All-PacWest freshman Hunter Skoglund in 87th (32:26.43), and freshman Kaeden Anderson in 93rd (32:33.49).

"I am very pleased with the way our freshmen stepped up this season," offered Hanessian. "These young men have represented our team well. All I could ask for this season was for the underclassmen to establish themselves on this team, and not be afraid to finish in the top-seven.

"I can confidently say that that happened. I am super excited for the ways this young team will continue to grow and develop in the future."

Westmont's 379 points put them in 15th, while West Region Champion Chico State won it with 75 points. Chico State also had the meet's individual winner, with Damian Garcia posting a meet-best time of 29:26.33.

Westmont's men will now turn their attention to the track & field season, which will commence in early 2026.
