(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Starting pitchers Bryan Peck and Ryan Humphreys picked up a pair of wins on Saturday as #21 Westmont Baseball (7-2) started PacWest play by sweeping a doubleheader with Hawai'i Pacific (2-5). Westmont took the first game 3-0, then posted an 11-6 win in game two.

Peck (2-0) pitched seven scoreless innings allowing five hits, striking out four and walking just one. Peck turned the ball over to Caden Beloain for the final two innings. Beloain earned his second save of the year allowing one hit and striking out one.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard early, putting up two runs in the bottom of the first. With one away, Michael Soper walked, then advanced to second when Bryce McFeely singled to left field. Trey Dunn hit a ground ball to third that resulted in an error and the bases full of Warriors. That brought up Isaac Veal who singled through the left side, driving in Soper and McFeely.

Westmont's third run came in the bottom of the eighth. After Veal led off with a walk, Jack Bollengier produced a sacrifice bunt, moving Veal to second. An infield single by Jesse Di Maggio moved Veal to third.

Shane Hofstadler came up to bat and the Warriors attempted a suicide bunt. However, Veal was thrown out at the plate, resulting in the second out. With men on first and second, Colin Callahan doubled down the left field line, driving in Di Maggio for the final run.

Humphreys (1-0) gave the Warriors five innings of work in the second game. He allowed two runs on one hit. He struck out 10 and walked six.

Evan Johnson pitched the final two innings, allowing four runs on three hits.

Westmont scored a single run in the first inning. After Daniel Patterson walked, Soper singled to right on a hit-and-run that allowed Patterson to reach third. McFeely came up to bat and hit a ground ball to short that allowed Patterson to score.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the third when Tyler McEvoy led off the inning with a home run to left field. The Warriors added another run after Patterson doubled to left field, driving in Callahan who had reached on an error.

In the bottom of the fourth, Bollengier singled to center field then stole second. After Grant Yzermans walked, both runners advanced on a double steal. Di Maggio sent a fly ball to right field that hugged the line. The ball was caught in foul ground, but Bollengier tagged up and scored.

After the Sharks scored twice in the top of the fifth to make it a 4-2 score, Westmont pushed six runs across the plate in the bottom half of the inning.

Patterson started things off with a lead-off home run. Soper followed with a bunt single, but was retired attempting to steal second. With one away, McFeely walked, then reached second when Dunn singled up the middle.

After a pitching change, Bollengier hit a ground ball back to the pitcher. The ball was fielded and over thrown at first with the ball traveling deep down the right field line. Both Dunn and McFeely scored and Bollengier reached third.

Bollengier then scored when Yzermans singled to center field. One out later, Yzermans stole second. Next McEvoy was walked with the ball reaching the backstop on ball four, allowing Yzermans to reach third on the wild pitch. That brought up Callahan who doubled to deep left field, driving in Yzermans and Orion Medeiros, who was pinch running for McEvoy.

In the eighth inning, McFeely capped off the scoring with a towering home run to center field that cleared the batter's eye.

The two teams will meet up again at Russ Carr Field on Monday to conclude the series with another doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
