(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) It was a busy weekend for the Westmont's Men's Tennis program as the Warriors played back-to-back this weekend, first in Santa Barbara on Friday, before hitting the road to Fresno on Saturday.

On Friday at home, the Warriors fell 6-1 to the Biola Eagles, after a strong showing from Westmont's old rival. Westmont's lone point came from Austin Stone at line one, where he continued a stellar individual start to his season by defeating Jules Zanarelli 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (1). Diego De Cooman, Goor Adiv, and Valentin Dignac all pushed their matches to three sets as well, but only Stone was able to win the pivotal third set.

"I was proud of the way the guys battled in singles," offered head coach Chris Elwood after Friday's match. "We had four three-set matches on the top courts against a pretty talented Biola squad. The tennis level was outstanding one-through-four. The match was difficult however, in part because of such a slow start in doubles. Again, though, the way the guys fought back made me proud.

"They fought like true Warriors. They gave us a chance to win, and that's all you can ask for. Kudos once again to Austin Stone. He played terrific battling through some illness, and just continues to compete at a high level."

On Saturday the Warriors had no answer for Fresno Pacific, after the Sunbirds took all six singles matches in two sets to win a clean 7-0 affair. Stone came the closest of any Warrior to forcing a third set, but even Westmont's number-one fell 6-3, 7-6 (3) to Brodie Sodersten.

The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, February 22 at 2:00 p.m., when the club hosts NCAA Division III Cal Lutheran at Westmont College.
