Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Regular Season Ends in San Diego

(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) Westmont Men's Basketball (13-15, 11-9 PacWest) concluded its regular season on Saturday afternoon in San Diego, when the Point Loma Sea Lions (25-5, 18-2) handled the Warriors by a final of 64-48. The Warriors can now turn their full attention to the PacWest Tournament Quarterfinals, which the Warriors will take part in on Thursday in San Rafael.

Saturday's contest once again saw the Warriors at less-than-full strength, and a short-handed Westmont team was also late to the party. The Warriors did not score a single point during the first four minutes of action, with Point Loma leading 13-0 before Westmont found the bottom of the net. After the lid came off the basket the Warriors played the Sea Lions fairly close, including a second half where Westmont outscored PLNU 30-23. Still, the early damage was done and the deficit was too large for the Warriors to overcome on the Sea Lions' senior night.

Individually, Jarrett Bryant led the Warriors with 11 points to go along with five rebounds, while De'Undrae Perteete joined Bryant in double-figures with 10 points of his own. The third Warrior to score in double-digits was Aidan Mandel, who dropped in 10 points to go along with five boards off the bench. Collectively, it was a tough night offensively, as Westmont shot just 39.5% from the field (17-43), which was dragged down due to the club's inefficiency from beyond the arc (1-15).

The PacWest Tournament bracket will be finalized late Saturday night, at which point the Warriors will know their path to a potential tournament championship. If the Warriors were to win three games in three days next weekend, the club would earn its first NCAA Division II National Tournament berth in program history.

"We're ready for the tournament, and next week is a big week for Westmont Basketball," said Westmont head coach Landon Boucher. "I'm excited to get up there. In a league like, with everybody so tight, the seeding kind of doesn't matter. I think we showed some good moments in these last couple games. Biola and Point Loma are two really good teams, but there were certainly positive things we can take away from these games.

"These are two of the toughest trips of the season, for anybody. Still, I think our guys showed a lot of fight in the last week. I'm expecting that fight to show up next weekend."
