Â
(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Both the rain and the Colorado Mesa Mavericks made life difficult for the Westmont Warriors on Wednesday, when a multi-setting match saw Westmont fall 4-2. Unexpected rainfall not only delayed an afternoon first serve, but ultimately made it impossible to finish a match at Westmont with a quickly-setting sun.
Â
At Westmont, the score 3-2 after the Mavericks claimed the day's doubles point, and also won matches at number four and one singles. Before the scene shifted, however,
Goor Adiv got Westmont on the board with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win at line three. Also able to complete their match in one place was
Diego De Cooman, who won at line two 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Â
With both five and six unfinished, however, the conclusion of the match was forced to Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. At that point Westmont needed wins from both
Valentin Dignac and Sidharth Madarana to salvage the match.
Â
Unfortunately for the Warriors, Dignac fell 6-4, 6-1 to Emil Hultman, allowing Colorado Mesa to claim the match.
Â
Westmont will look to get back in the win column 10 days from now, when Jessup comes to Santa Barbara on Friday, March 28.
