(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) The Colorado Mavericks came on down and defeated the Westmont Warriors on Monday night in Santa Barbara, where the visitors ultimately left Santa Barbara with a 6-1 win. The day's itinerary was more inconsistent than usual due to inclement weather, necessitating a second site to complete the match.
Â
After rainfall pushed a scheduled noon start back to the late afternoon, the Warriors and Mavericks played a portion of their match on Westmont's home court, before an early nightfall led to the need for a contingency plan. That plan ultimately led the clubs to hit the road down south, where they completed their matches at Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club.
Â
For Westmont, their lone point of the match came on court three during singles, where
Justie Spitzer defeated Jade Brilhante 6-4, 6-4. Elsewhere,
Sophia Ostovany and
Kaley Houshmand won a first set on courts one and five, respectively, but both eventually fell in three sets.
Â
The Warriors will look to snap an eight-game skid on Thursday in Fresno, where they'll battle MSU Denver at a neutral site.
