Adrian McIntyre made room for one more accolade on Wednesday, when it was announced by the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) that Westmont's standout senior was named a First Team All-American. For Westmont, McIntyre is the school's first NCAA Division II athlete to be tabbed a First Team All-American.
Â
"Adrian has earned just about every honor you can this year," said
Landon Boucher. "He deserves all of it. I'm proud of him for becoming Westmont's first Division II All-American. He had an incredible year, and the exciting part is that he's still continuing to improve."
Â
Only five players in the nation receive this honor, with McIntyre being the West Region's lone representative on the nation's First Team. McIntyre, who was named PacWest Player of the Year earlier this March, recently capped off one of the greatest single seasons in program history.
Â
McIntyre set a new program record this season by scoring 752 points, with the senior ending his season averaging 27.9 points-per-game. McIntyre, who broke a 69-year old single season scoring record, also broke a 70-year single game record when he dropped 51 points against PacWest Champion Point Loma in February.
Â
McIntyre not only finished as the top scorer in the PacWest, but also finished with the highest scoring average in NCAA Division II. A season that will be remembered for as long as Westmont Basketball is played now has one final accolade to add to the story.
