(IRVINE, Calif.) Westmont Women's Tennis was unable to return to the win column this week after dropping a pair of contests during a road trip to Southern California. On Friday, Westmont lost a nail-biter 4-3 to Cal St La, before the Warriors ran into a buzzsaw against the Concordia Golden Eagles on Saturday.
Â
On Friday, Westmont lost the doubles point early, but in singles, the Warriors nearly flipped the script on Cal St LA.
Francesca Aguirre got the Warriors on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win at line three, before
Sophia Ostovany followed up on line two 6-3, 7-5. Westmont's third point came from
Johanna Winkler on court four, where the senior won 6-3, 6-4.
Â
Westmont led at that point 3-2, it came down to courts five and six where both matches went the distance. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they were unable to steal either of the last two courts in an eventual 4-3 loss.
Â
On Saturday, Westmont went head-to-head with CUI, who moved to 13-8 on the year when they dispatched the Warriors with a clean 7-0 sweep.
Â
Westmont's regular season will come to a close next weekend, with road matches scheduled against Biola and Point Loma.
