(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) Westmont Men's Basketball (17-11, 14-8 PacWest) fell in its regular season finale on Saturday against Point Loma (23-5, 18-4) by a score of 76-66. The Warriors will now turn their attention to the PacWest Tournament, which for the Warriors, will begin on Friday in the conference semifinals, since the club earned the two-seed and a bye to move them past the tournament quarterfinals.

On Saturday, the Warriors got to familiarize themselves with Golden Gymnasium, which will be the site of the PacWest Tournament a week from now. The top-seed in that tournament will be the host Sea Lions that bested the Warriors in today's matchup, with Point Loma's depth allowing them to outlast Westmont.

Westmont had three of their starters finished in double-figures on Saturday, with Jarrett Bryant scoring a team-high 19 points, Braedon Bigott scoring 16, and Trey Thompson adding 12 of his own. A significant difference between the two clubs, however, was that outside of Westmont's starting five, their bench provided only three points in a total of 41 minutes. Point Loma's non-starters provided the home team with 19 points, highlighted by sixth-man James Nobles who had 14.

The first half saw the lead change six times on Saturday, but after the Sea Lions went into halftime leading 40-35, the Warriors would not legitimately threaten in the second half. Westmont never once tied the game in the final 20 minutes of the contest, with the Sea Lions leading by as many as 14 down the stretch.

Leading all scorers was PLNU's Jaden Matingou, who had 21 in large part due to his 10 free throws made in 11 tries. Point Loma turned the ball over only five times compared to Westmont's 10, while the Sea Lions also assisted 16 of their 27 made field goals, while Westmont had 11 in their 22. Westmont had their chances at the line, but made only 14 of their 22 looks from the charity stripe. Point Loma on the other hand, led by Matingou, had made 13 of 15.

Both teams will await their semifinal matchups by tuning into the conference quarterfinals on Thursday in San Diego. Then on Friday, the Warriors postseason run will officially begin at 12:30 p.m. Links to live coverage will be available on the Westmont Athletics website.
