(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) The Westmont Women's Tennis team (5-4) dropped a home matchup against Biola (5-3) on Saturday. Despite some close sets, the visitors ultimately took a 7-0 victory, snapping the Warriors three-match winning streak.
In doubles, the Warriors' No. 1 doubles team of freshman
Thea Donarski and senior captain
Sabina Salva started off the day competitively, but it was ultimately a moot point. Trailing 4-3, their match was cut short after 6-3 and 6-1 Biola victories on courts two and three, respectively.
Biola took home all of the singles matches, four in straight sets. Dos Pueblos graduate
Ellie Triplett was close to winning a Warrior point on court four; after a 6-2 first-set loss, she extended her match by winning a 7-5 second set but losing a 10-8 superbreaker. No. 1 Donarski had a similar result, dominantly winning a 6-1 first set but falling 6-3, 10-6 from there. No. 3
Justie Spitzer dropped a 6-4 first set, and No. 5
Emma Rashid lost a 6-3 first set.
Thankfully for the Warriors, there are plenty of opportunities to turn the page. The next five matches are all at home, including three next week. The Warriors host Jessup on Tuesday morning, Hawai'i Hilo on Thursday, and CSU Los Angeles on Saturday at noon.
