(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) A celebration of three seniors couldn't stave off a couple of 7-0 losses over the weekend by Westmont Women's Tennis (7-7). The Warriors lost to Hawai'i Pacific (11-3) on Saturday and Colorado Mesa (8-9) on Sunday.

Prior to Saturday's match, Liska Knight, Sabina Salva and Justie Spitzer were celebrated by their teammates, coaches and parents. All three are four-year players for the Warriors and have made tremendous contributions to the program.

In doubles play against Hawai'i Pacific, the Warriors dropped matches at number one and three. At number one, the Sharks Evi Roobol and Annicka Hakovirta defeated Salva and Knight 6-1 while on the number three court, Kayleigh Castillo and Kaia Sperry downed Spitzer and Emma Rashi 6-2. On the number two court, Westmont's Lauren Gee and Ellis Triplett held a 4-3 lead when play was suspended.

Thea Donarski battled Roobol at number one singles, falling by scores of 6-2, 6-4. At number two Salva lost to Tereza Noah 6-1, 6-0. The number three singles match saw Castillo post a 6-0, 6-3 win over Spitzer while Hakovirta defeated Triplett 6-0, 6-1 at number four.

Hawai'i Pacific's Rosa Viller Moeller won at number five 6-2, 6-2 and Sperry defeated Avala Elwood 7-5, 6-0 at number six.

While the team score was the same on Sunday against Colorado Mesa, the matches were closer. In doubles, Spitzer and Rashid posted a 6-2 win for the Warriors over Valentina Gonzalez and Sophie Hartman. However, Westmont lost at number one and two. Salva and Gee lost at number one 6-2 to Devyn Rodriguez and Jade Brilhante. At number two doubles, Delia Maier and Catalina Ballon defeated Triplett and Knight 6-3.

In singles play, two courts went to super tiebreakers. At number two, Salva took the first set 6-2 before falling 6-4 in the second set. The super tiebreaker went to 10-8, but was won by Gonzalez. On the number five court, Rashid claimed a 7-5 victory in set one, then lost 6-4 in the second set. Once again, however, the Warriors lost a close super tiebreaker with Ballon prevailing 10-8.

On the first court, Spitzer fell 7-5, 6-4 to Rodriguez while at number three, Brilhante downed Gee 6-1, 6-2. Maier posted a 6-1. 6-1 win over Triplett and number four and Jane Steur defeated Elwood 6-0, 6-1 on number six.
