(LA MIRADA, Calif.) The Westmont Men's Tennis team (8-7) had their first of five straight road matches on Saturday against Biola (14-2), the PacWest's top team. Celebrating Senior Day, the hosts won 6-1.

Ranked as the 26th best team in the most recent Division II ITA rankings, doubles pair Angel Guerrero Melgar and Alejandro Flores Monteverde also sit fifth in the Doubles rankings. However, they did not play together on Saturday. Westmont's number two team of Zach Steinberg and Diego De Cooman were playing very well, leading Guerrero and Thiago Canessa 5-4 before their match was halted as the Eagles clinched the doubles point. The hosts won 6-3 on court one and 6-2 on court three.

In singles, the Warriors continued to play without number one Rafael Matias. Elevated to that position, Driss Sedrati—who won 6-2, 6-2 yesterday—earned the Warriors their sole point via retirement after trailing 3-2 in the opening set.

Recently elevated to the lineup—and clinching yesterday's win over Missouri-St. Louis—freshman JD Drake had the closest singles match. He was the only Warrior to win a set, dominating the first 6-2. From there, he dropped a 6-4 second and then fell 10-5 in the ensuing superbreaker on court six.

The remaining four matches were all straight-set Eagles' victories. Number two Diego De Cooman's 6-4 first set defeat was the tightest of the bunch.

Next week, the Warriors play the first of three matches in three days on Wednesday at Fresno Pacific (3-5).
