(LA MIRADA, Calif.) The Westmont Women's Tennis team (7-11) traveled to Biola (10-6) on Saturday, beginning a four-match road trip through the end of next week. The hosts defeated the Warriors 7-0.
Biola began doubles play with a 6-2 win on court three.
Ellie Triplett and
Liska Knight battled on court two, but could not extend their match; ultimately, a 6-4 defeat ceded the opening point to the Eagles. Number one pair
Sabina Salva and
Lauren Gee's match went unfinished, down 5-4.
Showing their strength in singles, Biola quickly won on courts six, one, and two—in that order—to take a 4-0 lead, thus clinching the match.
Triplett stayed competitive in her second set. Westmont's number four fell 6-1, 6-4. Number five
Emma Rashid had as close of a first set as one can have; she dropped a 7-6 (7-5) first set before a 6-1 second.
Salva was the lone Warrior able to win a set. On court three, the senior captain was defeated 6-4 in the first, but she earned a 7-6 (7-5) victory in the second. In the superbreaker, she fell 11-9.
The Warriors look to get back in the win column on Thursday at Jessup (1-12). Westmont won the previous matchup 7-0 at home.
